What Does the Society Do?
Founded in 1974, the Alexandria Historical Society promotes an active interest in American history and particularly the history of Alexandria and of Virginia, through research, discussion, and publication. The Society sponsors five lectures per year featuring outstanding speakers with a focus on Alexandria history. In April, the Society presents its Annual Awards to those who have made noteworthy contributions to the preservation of the historic, cultural, and artistic heritage of Alexandria.
